Q: What is the central purpose for God’s creation?
A: Before creation, God wanted to have a people who He could love and who would love Him forever. The creation is a beautiful place He made, in which, He could accomplish that purpose. The Bible, and all that is in it, is God’s message to us about how He has fulfilled, and is fulfilling, this purpose. After judgement, when the Earth is finished and time is no more, what single asset does God possess that He did not possess before the creation? Answer: A people who will love Him forever.
Q: What is a “type?”
A: “Types” are stories, single events, people, many things in biblical history which point to more important people or events in later history. For example, it is said that Jesus is the “lamb slain for the sins of the world.” This means that just as Jewish believers in ancient Egypt slew the Passover lamb, and smeared his shed blood on the door posts and lintel of the Jewish home, such that the death angel would pass over that household; so it is, that the blood of Jesus Christ shed on the cross will save from Hell those that believe and have faith in Him. So the Passover Lamb is a “type” of Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ is the “antitype” of the Passover lamb. As you can see, the “type” reveals additional information about the person; Jesus Christ.
Q: Why do we care about the definition of a “type?”
A: A “type” picture gives us information, in addition to what you can get, just from looking at direct scripture by itself. We care about “types” in this book because this book is all about the prophetic information contained in the “types” found in the Bible.
Q: Why are “types” valid for dependable knowledge about biblical truth?
A: There are several reasons. One reason is because God, the Holy Spirit, intended all through Bible history to use “types” to provide additional bonus information, as well as use direct chapter and verse, to inform those who would set their minds to discovering biblical truth. To demonstrate, you can read about how God severely punished Moses for destroying a “type” picture in Numbers 20:2-13.
God wanted to create a “type” picture which tells us, in our day, after Christ, that if you will speak to Jesus, “the rock” (I Corinthians 10:4), He will give you “living water” (John 4:10). God told Moses to speak to the rock but instead, he struck the rock. This act destroyed the “type” picture God was trying to create for us hundreds of years later. To correct the situation, God had to make an issue out of the mistake so we would read about the mistake and still “get the picture” anyway.
Q: Does God want us to know the exact time of His return?
A: No, “. . . But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.” (Matthew 24:36) However, there may be a practical reason for this; the time is different in every part of the world at any given moment. When it is 6 AM in Israel, it is 7:30 PM in California the previous day. So, it would be ambiguous to predict the day or the hour.
Q: Does God want us to know the approximate time of His return?
A: Yes, for several reasons. Here is one reason. “. . . but encouraging one another; and all the more, as you see the day drawing near.” (Hebrews 10:25) This means if you can see the day drawing near, then you For Speaking Engagements, please contact me through:
Patti Hultstrand, E-mail: email@example.com or call: 480.559.4134 must know, at least approximately, when the day will come.
Q: Does God have an overall time plan for the creation?
A: Yes, there are several reasons why He has such a plan. He has an overall seven thousand year-long plan. Just as the seven days of creation relate to God’s overall creative activities, so it is that seven thousand years relate to God’s overall redemptive activities with man. And, each day of creation relates figuratively to each corresponding one thousand year period of Bible history. See also II Peter 3:3-9. Here we see the connection made between the creation days and the seven thousand years of Bible history.
Q: Does God have a comprehensive plan to deal with mankind throughout history?
A: Yes, He has tested man in every possible fundamental way of relating. Everything man or God can do, could be termed “Work.” And that “Work” would be at the direction of man or God. This direction of God or man could be termed “Will.” Thus the “Will” of God or man would direct the work of God or man. This means there are only three viable fundamental ways that man and God can interact. Either man directs man’s work, or God directs man’s work, or God directs God’s work. Man directing God’s work is not a viable alternative. The other three alternatives are the three dispensations we observe in Bible History.
Q: What are Dispensations in the Bible?
A: Dispensations are periods of time during which God deals with man in a particular way. I discern there are three dispensations which God has defined. They are the Period of Conscience, the Period of Promise and Law, and the Period of Grace.
Q: How can we identify each Dispensation?
A: Each dispensation is identified by its own unique way God has dealt with mankind. However, another way we can identify each dispensation is that Jesus is the “First” and the “Last” of all time; and, He is the “First” and the “Last” of each dispensation. Each dispensation begins and ends with an event which points to Jesus.
Q: How does Isaac’s life tell us the approximate time of the Marriage of the Lamb?
A: Isaac’s life is a “type” of the life of Jesus Christ. What happened to Isaac, also happened to Jesus. And; Isaac was married to Rebecca when he was forty years old (Genesis 25:10). This means when Jesus is somehow 40 years old, Jesus, “the bridegroom,” will be married to His “bride,” the church. We know Jesus ascended to Heaven when He was 33 years old, in A.D. 33, so He never made it to age forty. His first coming and second coming are separated by 2000 years, the dispensation of Grace. And, we know the Marriage of the Lamb comes at the end of the Tribulation period, seven years after being united with His bride, which would make Jesus, figuratively, 40 years old. Adding up the years from His ascension in 33 A.D., plus 2000 years, plus seven years equals 2040 A.D. as the year of the Marriage of the Lamb.
Q: How can we know the season (time of the year) of the Rapture or the Second Coming?
A: The Jewish feasts represent significant commemorative celebrations which the Old Testament people were to observe every year at a particular time of the year. However, the Feasts are also “types” of the major events from the first coming of Christ to His Second Coming. The Passover represents Christ’s death on the cross, which happened in the Spring of the year. If the burial, resurrection, and start of the church, followed the feast outline seasons, which they did; and, since God is perfect, the rapture, the humbling of Israel, and the Second Coming will also come at their designated time of the year.
Q: How do we know modern nations are spoken of in the Bible?
A: There are seven reasons why. This is just one reason. In Daniel, Chapter Two, there are verses which speak of the ancient empires which succeeded each other; Babylon, Medo-Persia, etc.. There are also verses which speak of modern empires that exist concurrently with each other. At the Second Coming, Scripture requires that the empires all be concurrent so that Jesus, “the Rock,” can crush them “all at the same.” Since the ancient empires all succeeded each other, and not more than two held world class power at once, ancient empires cannot be the ones referred to at the Second Coming. Empires present at the Second Coming must be modern and concurrent with each other.
Q: What do conservative scholars believe about modern empires in the Bible?
A: They don’t believe these Daniel 7:1-8 verses apply to modern day empires. As far as I understand, they believe these verses apply to ancient empires. And so from their view, specific modern empires are not mentioned in the Bible. Although, they agree that whatever countries do exist at the end time are swallowed up by the great and terrible fourth beast mentioned in Daniel 7:7 and Revelation 13:1-5.
Q: How do the present world powers fit their Bible descriptions?
A: There are four modern world class empires, but I will only talk about one to answer this question. Referring to Daniel, 7:4, it says “the first beast was like a lion and had the wings of an eagle.” What modern day world class empire is similar to a lion but has the wings as an eagle? I say the United States of America fits. We are like a lion in the sense that our roots came from Great Britain whose national symbol is the Lion. Our national symbol is the eagle. Our “wings” or air force is the finest, and most powerful in the world. There are other reasons and other empires, but this will suffice to answer the question.
Q: Who are the major world players involved in Tribulation events?
A: The major world players are defined in Daniel Chapter Seven. They are: the United States of America, the Commonwealth of Independent States (Russia), the Arab-Africa Coalition of States, and the European Common Market States. These are all not yet in their final form but are recognizable as the empires involved.
Q: Where will the Antichrist come from?
A: This prominent world leader will start as head of the eleventh member of the European Economic Community (EEC, Daniel 7:8). He will be a Syrian (Isaiah 10:24). His rise to fame comes through successfully negotiating a seven year Mideast Peace Treaty after the world war caused by Russia (CIS) invading Israel. People will be impressed. Through political maneuvering, three of the smaller nations are absorbed by his influence (Daniel 7:8).
Q: What does the large “Tribulation Chart” depict?
A: The large 11” x 17” Tribulation Chart shows, down the left side, who the major players are; across the top, is the time frame of tribulation events; and from left to right, across the middle, is the order in which those events take place. The chart allows the reader to follow all the events, which will impact each major player, through the entire seven year tribulation period.
Q: How do we know the order of the seven Seals, seven Trumpets, and seven Bowls of Wrath?
A: Many have offered theories of how the Seals, Trumpets and Bowls are organized. But the Bible actually tells us how by a “type.” The period from the Exodus through the conquest of Jericho is a “type” of the period from the first coming of Jesus to the Second Coming of Jesus. You will remember that at Jericho, God asked the people to march around the city once a day for six days, and seven times on the seventh day. And if they complied, the walls would fall down and Israel could take the city. This bizarre sequence is only repeated once in the Bible, in the book of Revelation, near the Second Coming. The Jericho sequence is like the Tribulation sequence. This means each Seal is one year long and all the Trumpets come in the seventh year and all the Bowls come out of the seventh Trumpet.
Q: What is the seven year tribulation period all about?
A: This question is answered in Daniel 9:24. The period will finish the transgression; that is, for man to become the worst that he can be. It will make an end of sin; that is, for Christ to come back and take over the world. It will make atonement for iniquity; that is, all of the people who do not accept the atonement of Jesus for their sins will die horrible deaths to atone for their own sins. It will bring in everlasting righteousness; that is, the time when Jesus will rule righteously for one thousand years. It will seal up vision and prophecy; that is, all that is prophesied to be will be done. And lastly, to anoint the most holy place; that is, to cleanse the temple in Jerusalem and anoint the most holy place to be fit for use by Jesus during the Millennium.
Q: When does Israel get attacked by CIS (Russia) and the Arabs?
A: This happens right after the pre tribulation Rapture of the Church, but before the Great Tribulation starts. The next significant event, after the Rapture, is Russia and the Arabs attack Israel. The attacking armies are decimated. The world class statesman, soon-to-be Antichrist, will negotiate a seven year treaty with the combatants, as well as with Israel. The signing of this treaty will signify the start of the aptly named “Tribulation Period.”
Q: What is the difference between the Seal judgements, the Trumpet Judgements, and the Bowl judgements?
A: The Seal judgements are all judgements of man’s inhumanity to man; the Trumpet judgements are God’s judgements upon the creation; the world, itself. The Bowl Judgements are God’s judgements directly against all those people who have refused to bow the knee to Jesus Christ, He who endured the Cross to pay for their sins. Therefore, they must endure the judgements to pay for their own sins.
Q: Why should we believe George Washington’s vision about the judgement of America?
A: We should believe the vision because two of the three parts of the vision have already come true, and they are fulfilled already. This means the vision came from God, the only one who can predict the future; therefore, we can believe the third part also. In addition, the vision is consistent with Daniel, Chapter Seven which predicts the same judgement of America.
Q: Why do preppers feel compelled to prepare for an apocalypse?
A: For a specific answer you would have to ask them. Generally, though, I believe people are afraid of the future. In the 50’s, many were afraid of nuclear war and made bomb shelters. Today, rumors of wars, a shaky economy, and events like 9/11 cause people to see a need to prepare.
